So far, the Democratic Congress has delivered on its promise to return to the economic policies of a previous Democratic administration. They just didn't mention that they meant the Carter administration.

Is It The Only Reason?

I want to keep this post on the first page for now.

The balancing act will be important, not to give up rights and identity in the fighting of the WOT.

I do feel the WOT is important but [always] it can't be the ONLY judge.  Would those, even on TH vote for a liberal/leftist/Socialist Democrat who was very strong on the WOT but really bad on everything else [judges, abortion the economy, etc.]?  That's if the Republican is not strong on the WOT.  If they believe what they say that the WOT trumps everything then in the unlikely event this comes up then they would.

Originalism Very Important

[or any specific] candidate, or just "social" conservatives.  This comment by Chuck 
[where is the camera] Schumer should remind us to vote for someone who will appoint 
judges to the Supreme Court who believe in ORIGINALISM.      

In an address to liberal legal scholars of the American Constitution
Society, Schumer said that after watching the work of the newly
constructed "Roberts court" the past 18 months, he would block any future
Supreme Court nominee of President Bush's should a vacancy arise between now
and January 2009.

In an interesting turn of phrase, Hawley referred to such misguided but politically popular mandates as “security theater.” He noted that such theater trivializes security operations while doing little to protect Americans.

The current grandstanding by Congress is all the more baffling considering that — just last year — it passed legislation in the SAFE Port Act that called for testing the theory of total cargo scanning in order to evaluate its effectiveness. A report on three pilot sites is due to Congress next year.

By why wait for a report Congress demanded last year when it can score political points this year?

Arms Sales In The Mid-East

This from the Captain's Quarters blog post with the title "Iran Objects To Its Isolation" it's about arms sales to
Saudi Arabia, Israel, Egypt and "moderate"  Arab states.  Check it out  here.

Israel and the moderate Arab states (which only arguably includes Saudi Arabia) know where the real threat to stability and security lies. While small percentages of the people in the Arab nations support extremism and jihad, the entire Iranian government funds and promotes them. The Iranians contribute greatly to the extremism in these nations, either directly by providing support for groups dedicated to jihad or by example with their support for Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and reportedly Hamas as well.
