Keep Terrorists Out Of America

Amnesty for Terrorists?  Democrat Harry Reid says he wants to keep immigration and national security separate issues. Looks like Bush finally has a man he can work with.

Democrats Defeat Always

From an article "Apocalypse ASAP" which lets you know that the Democrats would never let victory stand in their way when they want to declare defeat in Iraq.  Read the article.

Democratic leaders are making it increasingly clear they'll let nothing prevent the U.S. from losing the war against al-Qaida and other terrorists in Iraq — not even victory.

For them, defeat in Iraq cannot come too soon. They are that convinced a failed war blamed on President Bush would be a political gold mine in 2008.

As if to prevent anyone in America from starting to think things might be going better in Iraq, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel declared in a visit to the New York Daily News editorial board last week that "the president knows it's over."

Calling the commander in chief "the joke of America," Rangel of New York added: "The president is in the 15th round. He's lost every round."

When one of Congress' most powerful committee chairmen makes such remarks, it may get under the skin of a few politicians on the other side of the aisle; but the chief effect Rangel's wisecracks have comes when they get translated into Arabic and Farsi, and al-Qaida's operatives and sympathizers hear them.

What a morale boost for the terrorists to know that one of the House's most powerful and senior members considers his president a "joke." News like that must give the Islamofascists solace: A few more months of bombing the infidels — plus slaughtering Iraqi women and children — and they will have won. Indeed, Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden's lieutenant, recently assured al-Qaida's commander in Iraq that a historic victory was near there.

And how must those who wear the uniform of the U.S. and serve in Iraq feel?

We Can't Let Them Defeat Us

This is from and article "Defeating A Superpower."  Read the story.

No serious person doubts that America is at war with Islamist movements that seek the West’s destruction. Among those movements, none is more threatening than al Qaeda. And al Qaeda’s most active and lethal combatants are in Iraq.

Was it a mistake to invade Iraq? A majority of Americans now think it was. Some charge that Bush misled us; some believe he was misled. Others believe that Bush underestimated our enemies, and overestimated the abilities of his intelligence gatherers and analysts, Pentagon planners and State Department nation-builders.

That issue will be debated for generations. Right now, the more pressing question is this: How do we prevail in Iraq, understanding that failure would be a body blow to America’s security and vital interests? The answer, at least in part, is by giving Gen. Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker the support they require — not signaling to al Qaeda and Iran that they are only a few more suicide-bombings away from a great and historic victory.

Return To Core Values

This is from the Captain's Quarters blog post about "The end of the Bushes?"  We have to ask for a return to these core values for the party.

Republicans used to stand for smaller government, federalism, and strong national defense. Not all of that conflicts with the Bush legacy, but enough of it does that we need to start publicly demanding a return to those core concepts. Rather than repudiating Bush over his insulting attacks on the base, the better path is to generate a positive agenda that demonstrates our dissatisfaction with the previous six years -- and give Republicans something to vote for, rather than something to vote against.

And They Never Will

Osama's House of Horrors  Torture manuals and torture victims are found at an al-Qaeda safe house… but neither the mainstream media nor Amnesty International seems to care.

Goodbye And Goodnight

Cindy Sheehan Turns Out the Lights  Actually the light may not have been burning all that brightly anyway - if Cindy is as shocked as she claims to be over having been used and discarded by the Democrats.

Rudy And Social Conservatives

This is from a column on Townhall called "Rudy's Popularity Problem" by Paul Edwards.  It's about support for Rudy by social conservatives.  Read it.

The Founding Fathers never intended for the election of the president to be a popularity contest, a political version of American Idol. The Founders understood what we have forgotten: popularity is the least of the qualities which qualifies a man (or woman) to hold the place of highest esteem among his (or her) fellow citizens. Though popularity may propel a man to the office, only good character can sustain him there. Giuliani has one; he totally lacks the other. The fact that we may view Giuliani as having the best chance of being elected president is our indictment of the American electorate at-large, not an indication of our support for a candidate who has been made popular, and chosen for us, by the mainstream media.
